Vodafone Qatar has announced its support for the International Conference on Sustainable Energy-Water-Environment Nexus in Desert Climate 2021 (ICSEWEN21), hosted by the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (Qeeri). The four-day event started Monday.
The conference looks to address the challenges and opportunities in the Energy-Water-Environment (EWE) nexus, and in particular examine the research and technology development requirements for the EWE nexus in harsh desert climates, such as in Qatar.
As gold sponsor and communication partner, Vodafone will join hands with Qeeri, a national research institute and part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), in addressing Qatar’s grand challenges related to energy, water, and environment.
Vodafone provides a range of solutions that enable businesses, governments and policymakers to digitally transform sectors including urban planning and agriculture, in order to optimise the use of resources, such as water, as well as monitor environmental conditions and energy usage, for example.
Ali Atiq Alabdulla, head of Media Relations and CSR of Vodafone Qatar, said: “Vodafone believes that together we can meet the needs of Qatar both now and in the future by anticipating challenges and working collaboratively to solve them. Our goal here is to secure sustainable water and energy resources for our country, and create the best possible environment for both current and future generations. We can do this by using digital technologies to catalyse the construction of entire ecosystems, provide solutions to optimise the usage of our precious resources, and by educating various stakeholders, including policymakers and future generations of scientists and engineers, on the importance of this mission.”
