MES Indian School marked Children’s Day celebrations with traditional gaiety and fanfare on November 14, highlighting the importance of giving care, love and affection to children.
Section-wise special assemblies were conducted celebrating the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of independent India who is fondly remembered as ‘Chacha Nehru’ for his love of children.
As part of the commemorative activities, students delivered speeches on the significance of Children’s Day, thus paying tribute to Nehru.
Various offline literary events were also conducted for students of various grades. Classes I to IV had colouring, speech and design-a-booklet activities.
There was also making a bookmark, pencil drawing, talking time and essay writing on the topic, ‘Commemorating ‘Chacha’ Nehru’, for classes V to VIII. Children were awarded certificates.
Teachers of the junior section came dressed as Nehru and other freedom fighters who dedicated their lives for the betterment of future nation builders.
In the girls’ section, the students’ council members initiated the celebration. Strains of violin wafted in the air while the tap of dancing feet and the merry cheer of students filled the day with mirth.
The tiny tots of kindergarten were dressed up as Nehru as well as their favourite personalities.
The children were shown videos of Nehru and his admiration for children.
Colouring worksheets were distributed as an activity for children of both KG I and KG II together with many other fun-filled games.
Congratulating the students for their enthusiastic participation and contributions, school principal Hameeda Kadar urged them to uphold the practice of universal brotherhood, as advocated by Nehru.
She encouraged the little ones to make big changes in their little ways of executing duties and responsibilities as advocated by the great leaders of India.
Section co-ordinators of literary activities, Vijaya Sharmila, Shiny Suresh and Resmi Ajith Kumar, co-ordinated the event.
