Food and grocery delivery service provider Wishbox has said it will provide support to the 'delivery partner' who was assaulted and also thanked the Ministry of Interior for taking swift action in the case.
As reported earlier, a young man was arrested for assaulting a delivery worker at a complex after a video clip of the incident was circulated on social media. Legal measures were being taken against the arrested person, the MoI had said on Monday.
Wishbox, which refers to its delivery personnel as 'delivery partners', issued a statement in this regard Tuesday.
Referring to the video involving the 'delivery partner', Wishbox said the incident was a situation involving a traffic accident. "We thank the Ministry of Interior for taking swift actions. Wishbox shall support the delivery partner via respective channels for legal measures as long as the delivery partner was abiding by the laws and regulations of the State of Qatar," the statement noted.
"We take this opportunity to sincerely thank and appreciate the delivery partner in the video for maintaining the high standards of Wishbox, utmost calmness and for showing patience in handling the situation. Any adverse reaction by the partner would have set a bad example for the community as well as Wishbox. Withstanding the pressure, he has made Wishbox proud," the company said.
The 'delivery partner' will be considered for higher positions to spread morality and discipline among other 'delivery partners', the statement added.
Wishbox also thanked the public who came out in support of the 'delivery partner' on social media. "Wishbox strongly believes in the spirit of Qatar and we are thankful to the leadership, citizens and residents of Qatar. We are born in Qatar and we strive our best to showcase Qatari hospitality to the world."
The statement pointed out that "the ultimate goal of each and every delivery partner on the street is to deliver your food or grocery packages on time. They are trained service professionals with customer satisfaction as top priority. During the Covid crisis, delivery partners played a crucial role in supporting the community, serving sick and people under home quarantine."
It continued, "At times, we react to late deliveries while the actual reason of the delayed delivery could be due to the busy kitchen of the restaurant, traffic jam in peak hours, diversion due to road construction, parking availability, etc. The 'delivery partner' will still be smiling and apologise to the customer for the delay because they are the brand ambassadors of the delivery service provider. They are trained to maintain calmness and handle the situation to provide the best service to the customer."
"Lastly, delivery partners deserve a smile from each of you as they might deliver the next package with multiple folds of gratitude," it concluded.
