Durham School for Girls Doha hosted a High Performance Learning (HPL) showcase event with the theme 'Education for a new world'.
"Durham School for Girls had the honour to be chosen as the hosting school for this event because of their academic excellence and creative way of implementing this learning approach throughout the whole school," it was explained in a statement Monday.
"As the first and only all-female British HPL school in the Middle East their focus is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to not only receive an education but to excel in their academic development and ability.

Durham School for Girls Doha principal Vanessa Whay speaks at the event

"Durham School for Girls is delighted to be part of the HPL Middle East Roadshow and welcomed school leaders from around Qatar as well as Simon O’Grady, HPL CEO, to the school.
"Founded in 2001 by Dr Deborah and based on cognitive research, High Performance Learning provides conditions and attributes to steer and drive all children to be able to reach their full potential. This raises levels of attainment within the school and gives the school a clear framework for their approach to Teaching and Learning."
As a relatively new school, principal Vanessa Whay explained how HPL was adding structure, consistency, and value in the school’s approach to teaching and learning.
Children as young as three years old are beginning to understand how and why they are learning. Challenging themselves cognitively and believing in their own ability to succeed.
In the conference, school leaders heard from principal Whay, school leaders, classroom teachers and students.
It was demonstrated how HPL was introduced and impacted learning and daily life in Durham School for Girls.
"Confidence for life is the school's motto and as a school it truly believes that every child can reach their full potential as a person in society and academically. Every child has the ability to learn, it’s how that learning is approached, that ensures that Durham School for Girls embeds the HPL framework through the British curriculum while remaining true to its core school values and Qatari Values."
This academic year Durham School for Girls Doha has also introduced the Dual Enrolment programme. This process is the first of its kind in Doha and is fully accredited by the Ministry of Education. This programme allows the students to have the opportunity to follow a traditional route to University through the British 'A' levels, but also be able to take University credits live alongside their studies.
The Dual Enrolment allows qualifying students to enrol in college courses transferable to universities such as Georgetown University in Qatar and Texas A&M University at Qatar, Qatar University, as well as abroad.
In a unique collaboration with State University of New York (SUNY), the students will attend live lectures through advanced technology and be a member of a university class, taught by the University faculty.
"Durham looks forward to achieving their full HPL accreditation in July to become the first International British World Class School," the statement added.
