Qatar Chamber hosted Wednesday a meeting between members of the Qatari-Russian Business Council with Pavel Kondrashov, the head of International Co-operation Directorate at Russian Small and Medium Businesses (RSMB).
During the meeting, which was attended by Assistant Director General for Government Relations and Committees Affairs Ali Bu Sherbak al-Mansouri, the Russian side delivered a proposal on enhancing co-operation between Russian and Qatari companies in various sectors.
The Qatari side was briefed on a number of companies that are willing to enter the Qatari market and the types of possible partnerships with Qatari companies.
Kondrashov said the RSMB Corporation is a development institution of the Russian Federation established in 2015 aimed at providing support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and to all organisations that help SMEs, including the raising of funds from Russian, foreign, and international organisations.
He also lauded the partnership agreement between RSMB Corporation and Qatar Development Bank, which includes an array of areas of co-operation, including strengthening and developing co-operation between Russian and Qatari companies, facilitating of SMEs integration of both countries into mutual supply chains, enabling B2B events between Russian and Qatari SMEs, providing support for Russian and Qatari joint projects, exchanging of information and best practices of SMEs, support in Russia and Qatar, and holding joint roundtable, workshops, and events, as well as to share information on existing business opportunities for Russian and Qatari SMEs.
Kondrashov also reviewed a number of Russian companies that are seeking to co-operate with their Qatari counterparts and establish joint ventures and partnerships in various fields.
He noted that this proposal was designed for Qatar Chamber to help acquaint Qataris with the investment opportunities available for co-operation, considering that both countries enjoy close relations.
Qatar-Russian Business Council member, Abdulla al-Khater, said the Qatari side welcomes the proposal and is looking forward to strengthening co-operation ties with Russian companies in all sectors, especially those that are related to ‘green’ economy and clean energy.
He also stressed the importance of holding a meeting between representatives of Russian companies willing to invest in Qatar and their Qatari counterparts to review partnership opportunities.
Al-Mansouri emphasised Qatar Chamber’s support for co-operation between Qatari and Russian firms, and hoped that more active partnerships would be forged by both countries.
