The Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MoCI) is participating in the Challenge & Innovation Forum (CIF) Qatar 2021, organised by the Ministry of Sports and Youth represented by the Qatar Scientific Club, under the slogan 'With The Mind, We Untie The Knots', taking place over five days until November 11 at the Qatar National Convention Centre. The ministry's participation comes in the form of a special pavilion, with aims at enhancing the protection of intellectual property rights, widely disseminate information thereon and achieve the desired benefit from them.
During its participation in the forum, the MoCI is showcasing the most significant initiatives in the field of intellectual property rights protection, and the laws and legislations that have been issued to protect these entitlements. In addition, the ministry is highlighting the most prominent e-services it provides in this field, as well as pointing out patent registration mechanisms for all participants in the forum, and the procedures followed to this end.
For her part, Amna al-Kuwari, director of the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Department at the ministry, participated in a panel discussion titled ‘Innovation and Sustainable Development’. During the discussion, she previewed the department’s role in terms of patents, as well as the part played by international organizations in patent-related issues.
Al-Kuwari further highlighted the initiative of the MoCI, in co-operation with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), in terms of establishing technology and innovation support centres, as they represent an important reference for innovators wishing to patent their inventions as per the highest international standards.
The Challenge & Innovation Forum is one of the activities taking place under the ‘Doha, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World’ initiative, and includes a number of competitions, interactive events and scientific programmes aimed at motivating and encouraging inventors from all over the world.
