As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) organised an event in association with Nammude Adukkala Thottam Doha (Our Kitchen Garden Doha), a collective of farming enthusiasts, to celebrate National Ayurveda Day on November 2 on the ICC premises.
National Ayurveda Day is observed to promote the ancient Indian healing system. The day is marked to spread awareness on the importance of Ayurveda in people's daily lives. ICC MC member Anish George Mathew welcomed the attendees,
Dr Deepak Mittal, Indian ambassador to Qatar, ICC co-ordinating officer Xavier Dhanraj, other embassy officers and many Indian community leaders attended the event.
The ambassador inaugurated the event by planting herbal saplings such as basil (tulsi), curry leaves (kadi patta), etc, on the ICC courtyard.
Dr Mittal emphasised the importance of the ancient herbal treatment known to India for thousands of years, and distributed herbal saplings to students as a token of appreciation for their environmental activities.
