The Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Municipality has launched a cultural event titled Al Qurm (Mangroves - History, Culture and Wealth) as part of the activities of the 'Doha, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2021' initiative.
The activities include broadcasting video clips on social media platforms on mangroves, shedding more light on the long history of mangroves in the country as well as the use of such plants and the importance of maintaining them. Besides, a cultural tour was organised to the mangrove reserves in Al Thakhira for some members of the Green Future initiative. During the tour, the role of individuals and institutions was emphasised in spreading awareness about the importance of preserving mangroves during cruises by adhering to hygiene requirements and not throwing waste in the reserve or near the Seef area (tides). Various cultural activities of the Ministry of Municipality in this regard will continue until December 16. At the end of the tour, a certificate of participation for the Green Future Initiative and souvenirs were handed over to the participants.
