Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar), a Qatar Foundation partner, held a special online event to honour the students placed on the Dean’s List with a Grade Point Average of 3.5 or higher.
Of the 119 students who qualified to the Dean’s List in the Fall semester, 2021, 32 are from the Art Foundation Programme, 20 from the Art History programme, eight from the Fashion Design programme, 30 from the Graphic Design programme, 17 from the Interior Design programme, and 12 from the Painting + Printmaking programme.
Across the global higher education sector, inclusion in a university’s Dean’s List is a recognition of a student’s commitment to hard work and academic excellence. At VCUarts Qatar, this selection takes place bi-annually, and is followed by a celebration to felicitate the recipients. This year, due to pandemic-imposed restrictions, the event took place remotely.
Amir Berbi?, the dean of VCUarts Qatar, congratulated the students. “The shift from school to university is always a challenge, and even more so in the face of all the extra safety and health restrictions necessitated by a pandemic. The fact that despite all these restrictions you achieved this distinction so early on in your university life says a lot about your determination, and passion in what you’re doing. As members of the Dean’s List, you’re next in the line of standard bearers for future generations of students.”
