HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali al-Thani inaugurated Qatar’s pavilion at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) in the Scottish city of Glasgow.
He welcomed guests from among the delegations of about 200 countries participating in the conference, stressing the commitment of Qatar to pursue efforts to reduce carbon emissions and reduce global warming.

Several entities from Qatar are participating, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, QatarEnergy, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, and Qatar Foundation, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change said in a statement yesterday.
Over the course of 12 days, Qatar's pavilion will hold workshops and sessions to discuss ways to confront the effects of climate change and the prospects of limiting its repercussions.
Qatar has pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25%, versus a business-as-usual scenario, by 2030.
The State has adopted the Qatar National Environment and Climate Change Strategy based on restoring biodiversity, enhancing land use, increasing green spaces, and improving water and waste management. It has also taken several measures to develop technologies to adopt clean energy, reduce the loss of desalinated water and work to recycle and use it, as well as improve air quality.
Qatar had hosted the 18th session of conference in 2012, which contributed to reaching the Paris Agreement three years later.
Within the framework of Qatar’s keenness to play its role as an active partner of the international community, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani had pledged, at the Climate Action Summit, $100mn to support least developed countries and small island developing states to deal with climate change, natural hazards and environmental challenges, and build capacity to face their impact.
