As a creative platform for encouraging reading, writing, literary discussions and activities, a group of Kerala expatriates have formed the Qatar Indian Authors Forum (QIAF), it was announced in a statement.
The office bearers are Dr K C Sabu (president), Hussain Kadannamanna (general secretary), Saleem Nalakath (treasurer), Sheela Tomy, Dr Bahauddin (vice-presidents), Sreekala Gopinath and T Abdul Majeed (secretaries) for the next two years.
M S A Razak, Mahmood Mattool, Anwar Babu, Thanseem Kuttiady, Bushra Ashkar, Muhammad Hussain Vanimel, Muhammad Ali Santhapuram, Anitha and Ashraf Madiyari are executive members.
"The purpose of QIAF is to bring all Indian authors in Qatar under a common platform for creative co-operation and to organise activities to promote reading, writing and discussions so as to explore the opportunities for healthy sharing of literature, with writers of other nationalities, especially Qatari writers.
"QIAF considers literary discussions and dialogue as a means of fruitful cultural exchange and wish to take creative initiatives in this regard. Any Indian author residing in Qatar who has published any book can become a member of this organisation," the statement added.
