Centara West Bay Hotel & Residences Doha, in collaboration with the Doha Environmental Actions Project community (DEAP), Ministry of Municipality and Qatar Green Building Council, organised a clean-up on the elevated terrain of Fuwairit Beach to align with Qatar Sustainability Week.
The event included cleaning up the beach to ensure that no rubbish is present in the water that could harm marine life. "Keeping Qatar’s beaches clean is meant for both the preservation of the marine environment and for the benefit of people visiting," a press statement noted.
“An ongoing initiative is to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and to restore the natural environment as a part of the hotel’s sustainability plan. We would like to encourage beachgoers to clean up after themselves and take responsibility for picking up any rubbish left behind. At Centara, we integrate sustainability into our operations and promote responsible recreational activities,” said Sean Spinks, general manager.
"Followed by the supporting sustainability of Centara Hotels & Resorts, our basis for this commitment is rooted deep in Thai tradition, and we acknowledge and appreciate the fact that the strength of community, and the responsible treatment of the environment in which we all live, has a positive impact upon our business and consequently on the prosperity and security of the destinations where we operate," the statement added.
