* HMC official sheds light on upcoming projects
* Second phase of modernisation of Mental Health Hospital underway

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC)'s future projects, which will open soon, include Mesaieed General Hospital and Ras Laffan General Hospital with a capacity of 120 beds each, Qatar News Agency (QNA) has reported quoting a senior official.
Both of these are general community hospitals that are being equipped with the latest and most advanced technologies to provide healthcare services for male patients, according to Hamad al-Khalifa, chief of Healthcare Facilities and acting chief of Business Services at HMC.
Work is also under way to equip the Care Centre in Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City, providing diagnostic and treatment services for the elderly, and a short stay unit, he informed.
During an exclusive interview with QNA, al-Khalifa revealed that HMC, in co-operation with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), is implementing the second phase of the modernisation project for the Mental Health Hospital. This includes constructing 65 single rooms and redeveloping and expanding the current building to include 31 additional beds and facilities for medical education and related activities.
Further, al-Khalifa said other projects that are close to their opening after being equipped with medical devices and human cadres include the Al Maha Centre for Children and Young Adults, with a 96-bed capacity, near Al Wakra Hospital. He stressed that the centre represents a qualitative leap in care services for children with multiple and long-term health needs.
He said HMC is aware of patients' needs and committed to development plans and expansion of services to ensure the provision of the best possible healthcare to all patients and future generations.
During the interview, al-Khalifa also highlighted the development that HMC has witnessed over the past years, making it one of the best health institutions in the world.
