New Vision Badminton Sport (NVBS) aims to world class players in Qatar took a shot in the arm with the recruitment of Malaysian ex-junior International V Roobenraj as a coach. The 22-year-old will join the NVBS on a one-year to train their junior shuttlers and use that opportunity to further improve his badminton skills as well and win an international title.
The Malaysian who arrived in Doha on October 17 was accorded a warm welcome by the NVBS family lead by its coaches, support staff and other officials at Hamad International Airport.
Roobenraj, who is on dual mission in Qatar, fits perfectly in NVBS plans as they aim to groom their trainees to good badminton players in the country by 2030.
He will join the NVBS coaches’ panel on October 19, informed NVBS Chief Coach Manoj Sahibjan.
“He is joining in NVBS with a dual mission of being a coach for NVBS players as well as continuing his further badminton training under me as he aims to win an international title which has been his ambition,” said Sahibjan.
“NVBS created all the arrangements for his badminton training after his duty time. He had informed NVBS that his hobby and interest is to develop kids from beginner level to Intermediate level and from Intermediate level to advanced level,” he added.
Roobenraj was delighted to be Doha and looking forward to taking his game to a new level in Qatar.
“I am so excited at the prospect of playing and coaching a club in Qatar. I have high ambitions to be a world champion one day. It will be a huge new experience for me to take my game to the next level. This is the stepping stone for me to explore new frontiers in my game,” Roobenraj said.
The Malaysian Indian Badminton Association gave him a send off for Roobenraj ahead of his trip to Qatar and wished him all the best in his successful completion of his dual mission.
