The Ministry of Municipality represented by a work team of the Fisheries Department supervising the implementation of the farmed fish release, has released in the sea around 26,000 baby Hamour fishes of 40gm each at Al Wakra area.
Ibrahim Salman al-Mohannadi, head of the water research center at the Fisheries Department, explained that the process of releasing baby fishes into the sea has been going on for more than one year, and it is expected to create a considerable increase in the fish stock in the country.
He said that since last year and until now around 1.260mn baby fishes have been produced by the center and released into the sea. These include 701,000 black seabream baby fishes and 559,000 baby Hamour fishes.
