Qatar University (QU), represented by the College of Engineering, has signed an agreement with the US company Baker Hughes to enhance co-operation in the academic, research, and professional fields and support students.
Dean of the College of Engineering Dr Khalid Kamal Naji, stressed that the partnership expands the channels of communication between the university and the private sector to aid the transition into a knowledge economy and to open the way for companies to benefit from the university's facilities, as well as expanding partnerships with faculty members specialised in scientific research, in addition to holding various events and launching initiatives that serve all participants and benefit Qatar and society as a whole.
"This agreement contributes to activating the community partnership, facilitating the transfer of knowledge and technology to serve the university and society, and deepening the relationship with the industrial sector towards more co-operation and joint interaction in a way that supports the educational process and students," he added.
Vice-President of Baker Hughes for the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey, Zaher Ibrahim, expressed his pride as an energy technology company in providing Qatar University with turbine equipment, and process solutions (Laser Doppler intensity measurement) to help develop scientific research capabilities in Qatar, pointing to Baker Hughes support for innovation and research that can help drive the energy transition and support decarbonisation to contribute to the Qatar National Vision 2030 and Qatar University goals.
