Doha Municipality, represented by the Health Control Section of the Municipal Control Department, seized large quantities of frozen fish of unknown origin from the warehouses of a company in the Industrial Area.
A statement by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) said the fish was found without any labels and unsuitable for human consumption.
The officials, with the participation of the competent authorities at the Ministry of Interior (MoI), carried out a number of raids on places of preparation, storage and packaging of foodstuffs in unhygienic conditions, packing hot meals in bags that do not conform to standard specifications, and using expired foodstuffs without license.
During the current month, the department’s inspectors carried out 1,650 inspection tours, edited 55 violations, issued and implemented seven administrative closure decisions. A total of 65 samples were collected from various food establishments to ensure their suitability for human consumption.
