Doha Municipality, represented by the Health Control Section of the Municipal Control Department, seized large quantities of frozen fish of unknown origin from the Industrial Area. According to an official press statement by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), the fish was found without a label and unfit for human consumption in the warehouses of a company here.
The officials, with the participation of the competent authorities at the Ministry of Interior (MoI), carried out a number of raids on places of preparation, storage and packaging of foodstuffs in unsanitary conditions, packing hot meals in bags that do not conform to standard specifications, and using expired foodstuffs without license.
During this October, the department’s inspectors carried out 1,650 inspection tours, edited 55 violations, issued and implemented 7 administrative closure decisions. During the drives, 65 periodic samples were withdrawn from various food establishments to ensure their suitability for human consumption.
