The Zeal, NIA Hindi, Karnataka, ICC One and Marathi Toastmasters clubs of District 116 recently offered a platform, Youth Leadership Programme (YLP), for the students of Parth Public School, Karnal, Haryana (India).
Five teams, five main co-ordinators, 17 co co-ordinators, seven school co-ordinators and 100 students participated in the YLP under the leadership of chief co-ordinator Deepika Khatttar. The school management came forward and nominated co-ordinators from their end to assist the Toastmasters in conducting the YLP.
Their teachers worked hand-in-hand with the team here in Qatar and dedicated their after-work energies too to make the meetings run smoothly and with 100% attendance, under the leadership of the school's director and founder, Adarsh Sethi, and chief co-ordinator Rachana Mehta.
"What we accomplished was interacting with the delightful group of 100 children and got a chance to impart a collective knowledge of the various aspects of leadership, public speaking and the much-needed communication skills. All this was accomplished through a series of educational modules, such as the purpose of discussions and importance of listening, etc," a press statement noted.
The participants were also educated on the various indispensable tools of an accomplished speaker, which are speech organisation, importance of vocabulary, voice modulation, body gestures and facial expression.
All these modules were presented by the experts, enthusiastic seasoned Toastmasters.
Students even participated in an election process and got a chance to understand and display their leadership skills.
The three core highlights of the programme were giving the participants a chance to deliver their prepared speeches, developing their much-needed skills of impromptu speaking and effectively evaluating the speeches of their fellow participants.
The programme's duration was eight weeks and could be accomplished thanks to the efforts of the "resilient pillars" of Toastmasters - Sunita, Anjali, Archana, Sameer, June and their respective teams, the statement added.
These co-ordinators named their teams as Super Talkers, Critical Thinkers, Visionary Leaders, Pathfinders and Innovative Minds, respectively. All 100 students were given the opportunity to participate in the finale. The grand finale was graced by dignitaries from District 116, including division director Anita Samanta, Chandrashekhar Dudhe and district director Manzoor Moideen. The keynote speech was delivered by Safeer Azeez.
