The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has launched a month-long joint campaign to remove abandoned vehicles and equipment in various parts of Al Rayyan Municipality. The campaign, according to a MME statement, is being carried out by the committee to remove abandoned vehicles, MME’s mechanical equipment department and the general cleanliness department in co-operation with Al Rayyan Municipality, Lekhwiya Force and the General Directorate of Traffic.
Hamad Sultan al-Shahwani, head of the general control section at Doha Municipality and a member of the committee; Mohamed Hamad Haidan al-Marri, head of Municipal Control Department in Al Rayyan Municipality; First Lieutenant Sultan Turki al-Dosari from Lekhwiya Force, and First Lieutenant Ali Rashid al-Ghurainq from the Traffic Department along with a number of Lekhwiya personnel and municipality employees attended the campaign launch.
Al-Shahwani said the campaign comes in response to the demands of the people of the Mubairik area of Al Rayyan Municipality regarding the spread of abandoned vehicles. He explained that after the completion of the Mubaireek area, the campaign will move to other areas until the completion of removing all the abandoned vehicles within the borders of Al Rayyan Municipality. A total of 200 vehicles were checked and discarded tyres removed from the area. The official lauded the co-operation of some vehicle owners in removing their vehicles.
