Qatar has welcomed the appointment of members of the International Commission of Inquiry to Investigate Violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities and avoid double standards, to end the Israeli occupation, lift the unjust siege on the Gaza Strip, stop building settlements on the occupied lands, release prisoners and detainees, and stop attempts to Judaise the city of Jerusalem.
This came in a statement delivered by HE the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the UN Office in Geneva Ambassador Ali Khalfan al-Mansouri to the 48th session of Human Rights Council, during the general debate on "The Situation of Human Rights in Palestine and the Other Occupied Arab Territories" under the seventh item of the council agenda.
The grave Israeli violations and crimes against the Palestinians for more than seven decades, witnessed by the whole world, but the problem lies in the lack of a real deterrent to it, and the continuation of Israel, the occupying power, to act as if it is above the law, and this is what made it increase its racist policies and theft of the Palestinian natural resources, especially water, which the report clarified, al-Mansouri said.
He stressed that Qatar will spare no effort in alleviating the suffering of the brotherly Palestinian people until they obtain all their legitimate rights and the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
