Travelling cross-cultural exhibition now at its 6th destination as part of journey across Europe

Under the patronage of HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani, The Majlis – Cultures in Dialogue will be stationed at its sixth stop in Europe, at the Palacio de Carlos V – Conjunto Monumental de la Alhambra y Generalife in Granada, Spain, until November 14.
This comes after the successful journey that started in 2018 at the Grandmaster's Palace in Malta capital Valletta, then the Unesco headquarters and the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, the Weltmuseum in Vienna, and the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid.
*The Majlis – Cultures in Dialogue features a selection of over 70 objects that brings together the long tradition of exchange and dialogue in the Arabian Peninsula and beyond its borders.
The artefacts tell stories that one might hear in a majlis, the social space present in every Arab home.
They are stories born of an ambitious project started by the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum in 2018, with the aim to become a multifaceted forum for inclusive dialogue that connects people, beliefs and cultures.
Enriched by an open space for discussions, the exhibition aims to expand the horizons of our understanding of other people and places, according to a press statement.
The highly-esteemed Palacio de Carlos V – Conjunto Monumental de la Alhambra y Generalife in Granada represents the perfect spot for this exhibition, as it was designed to create strong and durable cultural ties while cultivating constructive dialogue between the Arab world, Spain and Europe.
This cross-disciplinary space is enhanced by six emblematic pieces from the Alhambra Museum, becoming the ideal place for the development of cultural projects, creators and thinkers from the Arab world intended to make a distinctive contribution to the institutional cultural landscape.
Commenting on this occasion, HE Sheikh Faisal said: "Since its inception, the intent of this travelling cross-cultural exhibition has been to spread the message of peace, prosperity, understanding each other’s cultures, believing in co-existence and becoming more tolerant.”
“This message is embodied in the artefacts, which we have selected to be displayed at Palacio de Carlos V – Conjunto Monumental de la Alhambra y Generalife in Granada, a place that historically has represented the crossroad of cultures and faith,” he added.
“Once again, the exhibition will serve as a forum to keep alive the history, culture and traditions for the next generations to learn and draw from,” HE Sheikh Faisal said.
*The Majlis – Cultures in Dialogue has been organised as an initiative of Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum in collaboration with the Unesco Doha Office.
