Under the patronage of HE the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, also the President and CEO of Qatar Petroleum, Qatargas received the prestigious ‘Crystal Award’ for supporting Qatarisation in the area of ‘Training & Development’ for the second consecutive year, which was announced during the Energy Sector’s Annual Qatarisation Review Meeting.
The Annual Qatarisation Review Meeting was held virtually with attendance from various companies from the energy sector in Qatar. The purpose of the annual Qatarisation Awards was to recognise companies who have consistently exhibited excellence during the prior calendar year in any of the four main categories which cover: support and liaison with the education sector, supporting Qatarisation, support for training and development, and best Qatarisation progress.
Qatargas CEO Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani said: “We are very proud to be recognised with this distinguished award, especially during a time we have been severely tested by the Covid-19 pandemic. It is with great admiration that I have witnessed the Qatargas organisation demonstrate sustained resilience while continuing to give priority to achieving our important Qatarisation goals. I am confident that our comprehensive learning environment will help us continue in our journey to develop an even stronger workforce in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030.”
Qatargas invests significant time, effort and resources to support and develop its workforce through training and development. As part of this, Qatargas has prioritised the delivery of high-quality learning during the pandemic, and this has had a positive impact on the business. Qatargas’ approach to development follows a training model emphasising 70% on the job experience, 20% coaching, and 10% classroom’ instructions.
