Qatar’s leading food delivery and q-commerce platform talabat has partnered with Airlift, the Qatari autonomous systems start-up showcasing the future of autonomous mobility in food delivery.
Autonomous Airlift will be deployed to fulfill talabat orders in the Msheireb District, starting from Friday. The partnership, a first of its kind in Qatar, brings together autonomous technology, sustainability, and efficiency to disrupt current logistics models and norms, and is an excellent example of the strength of Qatar’s burgeoning tech ecosystem.
Airlift’s autonomous vehicles are energy efficient and equipped with a full sensor suite that enables them to navigate autonomously. They are backed up by remote safety operators for continuous monitoring to ensure optimal safety standards for all road users.
In a press statement, talabat Qatar managing director Francisco Miguel De Sousa said: “We are humbled and excited to support the future of mobility in Qatar. As the leader in food delivery and quick commerce in Qatar, we are passionate about supporting Qatari start-ups and entrepreneurs to reach their visions to enable growth for the State of Qatar.
“Airlift is a shining example of QSTP’s incubator programme, and the transformational value that Qatar Foundation (QF) continues to provide in enhancing the lives of Qatari citizens and residents everyday.
“As talabat, we are piloting different strategic mobility projects across the region, and we are proud to say our partnership with Airlift is one of the most advanced initiatives, both in terms of technological scope as well as from a maturity level.
“We would like to thank our partners, Airlift and Msheireb district, for sharing talabat’s ambition and vision and for helping us make it happen”.
Airlift Systems CEO Ahmed Mohamedali added: “We’re thrilled to extend our collaboration with talabat and run an automated delivery service in a public environment for the first time in Qatar. This is an important step towards our vision of making mobility safer and more convenient for people living in urban areas. We are thankful for the trust and drive to support innovation by Msheireb Properties and the Ministry of Interior’s Traffic Department.”
talabat Qatar and Airlift previously tested their autonomous delivery partnership in QF’s Education City campus, a closed environment, with a partnership that made the State of Qatar the first MENA country with a fully autonomous traffic delivery car.
Customers in Msheireb Properties can now benefit from these autonomous delivery cars, by ordering through talabat.
