The Ministry of Municipality and Environment, represented by all the municipalities affiliated to the municipal affairs sector, issued until Wednesday 355 advertising licences to candidates in all electoral districts, QNA reported.
A total of 2,169 advertising boards have been distributed across all municipalities in the country: 832 boards in Doha Municipality, 462 in Al Rayyan Municipality, 186 in Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality, 179 in Al Daayen Municipality, 147 boards in Al Sheehaniya Municipality, 137 in Umm Slal Municipality, 114 in Al Wakrah Municipality, and 112 boards in Al Shamal Municipality.

Assistant Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs Mansour Abdullah al-Mahmoud said that the issuance of licences for electoral campaigning for the Shura Council candidates has been completed, taking into account all the required and necessary conditions in accordance with Law No 1 of 2012 Regulating and Monitoring Advertising Placement, and Law on Shura Council Electoral System No 6 of 2021.
He noted that the team which was formed to study and issue the licences for electoral campaigns has worked without interruption since the issuance of the final list of candidates approved by the Ministry of Interior until Wednesday, provided that the 'electoral silence' day is adhered to as stipulated in the Shura Council Electoral System Law.
He added that a Central Control Room has been established to facilitate procedures and to overcome any difficulties that may face applicants for advertising licences, and to ensure that the required licences are issued in less than 24 hours, seven days a week, including official holidays, for those that meet requirements.
The Office of the Assistant Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, in co-ordination with the Public Relations Department, has prepared and implemented a media and awareness campaign to introduce the steps and procedures for obtaining electoral campaign licences. Several ways were made available to submit applications, either through the ministry's website or through an e-mail address assigned to each of the eight municipalities.
