The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has announced the easing of some Covid-19 precautionary measures in mosques.
This is in line with the plan to gradually lift the restrictions imposed to combat the spread of Covid-19 and work to restore normal life, starting Sunday (October 3).
The ministry said in a notice on social media on Wednesday that social distancing will not be in place during the five daily prayers as well as Friday prayers. However, worshippers have to maintain a distance of 1m during the Friday sermon, while toilets and ablution areas can be opened in non-crowded areas.
Awqaf has urged mosque-goers to adhere to and abide by the precautionary controls and procedures in order to ensure the safety of worshippers and community members. These include showing the Ehteraz app while entering a mosque, bringing a prayer rug and wearing a face mask.
