The Supervisory Committee for the Shura Council elections organised a meeting for volunteers taking part in the elections yesterday , as part of its preparations for the polling day.
The meeting reviewed the role and tasks of volunteers, and the work mechanism to help voters and facilitate the voting process.
Major Saud al-Dosari from the Elections Department at the Ministry of Interior gave an explanation on the electoral process from the time the voter arrives at the electoral headquarters, passing through all the procedures, until he places the ballot in the box, and then leaving the headquarters. He also explained the duties and tasks assigned to the volunteers, noting that their role is organisational, not security.
Major al-Dosari highlighted some instructions for the volunteers, including the importance of reporting at 7am to the electoral headquarters before the start of the polling; the need to bring the volunteer's permit and carry the identification card throughout the election day and not hide it; work to guide voters and facilitate their movement and prevent crowding; informing the head of the commission about the elderly and people with special needs to facilitate the voting process for them; assisting the election commissions at the request of the head in the counting process and announcing the results; and informing the commission members of any emergency that might happen.
Major Saud al-Dosari urged the volunteers to contribute to the success of the electoral process by providing all means of assistance to the voters and adhering to all the regulations related to the work of volunteers.
