Qatari businessmen are eager to invest in the Republic of Maldives, said Qatar Chamber first vice chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari in a meeting with Maldives Minister of Economic Development Uz Fayyaz Ismail held Monday.
Al-Kuwari and Ismail, who was accompanied by Uz Ali Zahir, chief of staff at the President’s Office, discussed cooperation aspects between the private sector of both countries and ways of enhancing relations between Qatari businessmen and their counterparts in Maldives.
The meeting also focused on the investment climate of both Qatar and Maldives, as well as the opportunities available in each country and the sectors in which businessmen can cooperate in.
Al-Kuwari emphasised the eagerness of Qatari businessmen to establish new investments in friendly countries and pointed to the readiness of Qatar Chamber to inform Qatari investors on the investment opportunities available in Maldives.
Ismail expressed his gratitude to the chamber for organising the meeting, which highlighted cooperation opportunities between the private sector on both sides and confirmed the government of Maldives’ interest to strengthen relations with Qatar.
The minister also invited Qatari investors and businessmen to invest in his country in various sectors, such as tourism and food processing.
Ismail said Maldives adopts promising economic plans and is attaching great importance to economic diversification. He stressed that the government of Maldives is interested in attracting foreign investments.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of holding a meeting between Qatari businessmen and counterparts in Maldives to review areas of cooperation and establish commercial alliances, as well as active partnerships for the advantage of both countries’ economies.
