With Qatar getting ready to organise the biggest football extravaganza next year with FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Qatar Media Corporation (QMC)’s Radio FM 107 has “immersed itself in churning out sports-related shows”.
“Sports has become an integral part in the Qatari society with an audience that includes the old and the youth. With Qatar being hailed as an international sports destination, QMC is keen to cash in on the ever-rising popularity of sports by incorporating a couple of programmes in its array of talk shows,” a press statement noted.
After a “hugely successful” show on Tokyo Olympics in August, FM 107 has dedicated a special segment - ‘Bollywood in Sports’ that is aired on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. “We are a dedicated team that’s keen on producing sports shows besides our routine programmes on entertainment, Islamic theology, traffic, corporate world and health,” said FM 107 director Shadab Khan. “FM 107 caters to the Indian, Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan communities. That’s our target audience. Bollywood movies and sports play an integral part in their lives.
Hence, we decided to infuse Bollywood with sports. It’s an innovative show where we trace the relations between these two great entertainment industries.”
‘Bollywood in Sports’ is aired on FM 107’s most-listened ‘Hashtag Filmy Hai’ with RJ Nazia and author and sports analyst Mohamed Amin.
“A large part of the FM 107 audience are keen followers of the Indian, Pakistani cricket teams besides the Qatar football team,” added Khan, who hinted at producing more shows on sports.
