Campaigning for the Shura Council election continues as direct interaction between the candidates and voters spurs robust discussions on various issues, with both expressing hope that the upcoming council should be exceptional at all levels for the best of the country and its people.
Campaigning is continuing in an organised manner as the polling date – October 2 – draws nearer.
All candidates are given equal opportunities, and various services are provided free to them to help them effectively reach out to as many voters as possible.
Further, campaign spending is limited to QR2mn per candidate, with proven records and accounts of all the involved processes to avoid making money or material wealth an additional advantage or privilege, as the main focus is public service rather than any personal preferences or favours.
Ambassador Mohamed Hassan Jaber al-Jaber, a candidate for the 9th constituency, said that he would work towards continuing the progress and advancement of Qatar while maintaining the balanced policy adopted by the government locally and abroad, which serves the nation and its citizens, and upholds the safety, security and culture of the country.
He stressed that his programme covers various key issues for citizens, including employment and retirement, giving women the option of early retirement for the good of the family, and making sure that country benefits from the expertise of qualified citizens, including retirees in different fields.
Al-Jaber spoke about the need to adopt a comprehensive quality system for all government entities, in addition to a transparent system of accountability to guarantee the best performance.
He also spoke on other issues, including education, health, laws, rights, and boosting the local economy.
Nasser Mohsen Bukshisha, a candidate for the 11th constituency, considered it a national duty for qualified persons to participate in the election as it is an unprecedented and historic opportunity.

Bukshisha said the country's heritage and the ancestors support the principles behind the Shura Council.
Further, he noted that it is of utmost importance that candidates represent their voters, and give voice to their demands and concerns before the entities concerned to help resolve them accordingly.
Mohamed Yousef Abdulrahman al-Mana, a candidate for the 13th constituency, said family and identity issues are among his priorities.
He promised that if he makes it to the council, he will work on introducing legislation that will speed up the process of litigation and resolution of cases in courts.
Al-Mana also said that he will work to develop laws and regulations that further promote health and education and improve the administrative and management systems in the country, among other key issues concerning the people.
