Sri Lankan Toastmasters Club-Qatar recently elected its new executive committee (Excom) for the year 2021-22.
Salman Gaffary Hilmi was elected president of the executive committee for the 2021-22 term along with the new team comprising young and energetic Toastmasters, a press statement noted.
The new Excom team members are Fawzan Faiz (vice-president - Education), Don James Rukshantha (vice-president - Membership), Zaaky Ahamed Zarook (vice-president – Public Relations), Mufassir Saleem (secretary), Mohamed Usama Hussain (treasurer) and Sampath Samarasekara as the sergeant-at-arms. The immediate past president is Shakeal Badurdeen.
The event was attended by all members of Sri Lankan Toastmasters Club, including seasoned Toastmasters and its own division-G director, distinguished toastmaster Alar Mel Mangai.
Area 27 director Mohamed Nazik Cader installed the new upcoming Excom team. Members attended the online meeting and congratulated the new team, expressing their belief that the new team would take the club to greater heights in 2021-2022.
Sri Lankan Toastmasters Club-Qatar was formed in October 2017 by a few enthusiasts who wanted to provide a platform to their community members to excel in communication, leadership and public speaking skills. Kamil Ariff was the charter president from October 2017 until June 2019, and now the club is continuing successfully in its fourth year and scheduled to celebrate its centenary meeting in January 2022.
One of the key goals of the new executive committee is to enhance its growing membership by reaching out to fellow Sri Lankans in Qatar who are in need of improving and enhancing their communication, public speaking and leadership skills. Since its inception, more than 100 members have benefited from the club’s various educational programmes, workshops and activities, the statement adds.
