The ambassador of Thailand to the State of Qatar Nathapol Khantahiran, together with Dr. Mohamed Althaf, Director of Lulu Group International, has inaugurated the 'Thai Halal Products In-store Promotion in Qatar'. The event was jointly organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Doha, the Office of Commercial Affairs in Tehran under the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand and Lulu Hypermarket. The opening ceremony was held at Lulu Hypermarket, Al Gharrafa Branch with the presence of all ASEAN Ambassadors in Doha and other eminent dignitaries from various sectors.









The Promotion was aimed to feature a wide range of Thai products and promote trade between Thailand and Qatar through food, culture, and tourism.  As part of the Promotion, LuLu launched a weeklong in-store promotion and online offers on over 700 products from Thailand in all lulu stores across Qatar.
    
In his statement, the Ambassador of Thailand said that, "As one of the world’s top food exporters and leading Halal food producers, we are very pleased to introduce the finesse of Thai halal products in Qatar. Thai food products are best known for being healthy and nutritious yet offering uniquely flavourful taste and finest quality. As such, Thailand has positioned itself as the "Kitchen of the World" and has been offering a wide variety of Halal products including fresh fruits and vegetables, beverages, snacks and healthy food.” 

“Today, we are very pleased and honoured that Lulu hosts this Thai Halal product promotion which opens greater access for consumers to purchase Thai products more conveniently. Speaking at the event, the Thai Ambassador mentioned that, "the ongoing pandemic has led consumers around the world to be more concerned about their health and well-being. Therefore, the safety and hygienic standards of the entire food supply chain has become pivotal to consumers everywhere. Thai Halal food industry has adopted Covid-19 Prevention Best Practice to ensure that Halal food manufacturers, producers and exporters conform to international safety standards for hygienic and sanitary food production. Thus, consumers can be assured of the safe and hygienic production while enjoying the exotic taste of Thailand." 
Director of Lulu Group International Dr. Mohamed Althaf said the Lulu Hypermarket has been holding Thai Food Promotion over 18 years.  He said that Lulu contributed greatly in making Thai foods, fruits and vegetable popular in Qatar in collaboration with Thai Trade Commission which is promoting Thai products in the country.
“We have our own offices in Thailand. The country is known as kitchen of the world. It is famous in producing very high-quality food products and food innovation,” said Dr. Althaf.
He said that the Promotion is focusing on Halal linkage of Thai foods. “Halal Standards Institute of Thailand (HSIT) , running under Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand is testing products for Halal certification, traceability testing. Thailand has very strong certification system for Halal and other safety standard.”
He said over 1,000 food products are being showcased at the Promotion. “Many non-food items are also being exhibited. Thailand is one of the largest food exporters in Asia. Thai products received great demand in Qatar and other part of the world,” said Dr. Althaf.
