The Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE) of the Philippines, Inc. – State of Qatar Chapter recently held its 2021 third technical seminar, general membership meeting, and election of 2022 board of directors.
The hybrid conference, which was organised at Hilton Hotel Doha and via Zoom video conferencing, was attended by Philippine labor attache’ Adam A Musa.


In his speech,  he highlighted the socio-civic activities by the organisation such as beach clean-up drive, blood donation campaign, walk for a cause  campaign for the typhoon victims in the Philippines to name a few.  
The event was also graced by Professional Regulation Commission – Board of Electrical Engineering chairman Francis V Mapile, IIEE – National President Engr. Allan Anthony P. Alvarez, 2021 IIEE-Middle East Region Governor Eng’r. Orlando T Villapana Jr. and 2018 IIEE-Middle East Region Governor Eng’r. Robert U. Mabulay.
One of the highlights of the event was the election of the 2022 board of directors, which will lead the Institute to continue its goal for the year 2022, the newly elected board of directors and officers are as follows: Lauren M Olivos - president, Engr Jimmy Michael Bugay – vice president for Internal Affairs, Engr Enrique I Flores - vice president for External Affairs, Engr Marlon Manantan, Engr Roderick R Pajes – Treasurer, Eng’r. Joseph O. Salviejo – Auditor, Eng’r. Gary Desacula – Public Relations Officer,  Assistant Secretary – Karen Jazeellee O. Martinez, Assistant Treasurer – Eng’r. Alfie M. Guillermo, Assistant Auditor – Eng’r. Christopher N Pino – executive secretary, Engr Eva R Villa and Engr Reuel E-business managers.
With the leadership of Chapter President Engr Rudilyn Reyes and chaired by Chapter VP -Technical Affair Engr Enrique I Flores, with the help of the organising committee, the event attracted more than 600 participants from the Electrical Practitioners in Qatar, the Philippines, and other Gulf Countries, as well as Electrical Engineering Students from different Universities in the Philippines.
A talk was also held, highlighting two topics: first, RA 11285: ‘Focusing on Energy Audit’ by guest technical speaker from the Philippines, Dr Angel V De Vera Jr; and a former IIEE-national vice president for Technical Affairs; and second, Data Centre Construction Design by Engr Ferdinand G Reyes, a senior electrical engineer from GHD Global PTY, Ltd, Doha.
The event was in line with IIEE’s 2021 theme “Got-1-IIEE: Transcending the Challenges in the New Normal by Embracing Resiliency and Complementarity” by conducting hybrid conferences and seminars to benefit general members to acquire new knowledge and skills even in this time of pandemic.
