Qatar Charity (QC) distributed drinking water to workers, in co-operation with a local initiative launched by a student, Khaled al-Buainain, benefitting some 1,000 workers.

Fatima al-Mohannadi, director of Programmes and Community Development Department at QC, lauded the initiative as it focused on one of the important segments in construction projects and contributed to its development.

Besides expressing her happiness with QC’s participation in adopting a youth initiative in humanitarian work, she also lauded youth initiatives that provided wonderful humanitarian and community work.

For his part, al-Buainain thanked QC for welcoming the initiative and co-operating in its implementation, and the Lusail Mineral Water Factory for its support and sponsorship.

"The idea began based on the values of solidarity and compassion that our religion urges. The workers were working on construction under the high temperatures, so I thought that I would distribute cold water to them during their work," he said.

He hopes to continue such initiative, become a tradition in all summer seasons, and find interaction from various sectors to alleviate the suffering of the target segments.

QC also launched the “Suqia” project years ago to alleviate the heat stress on workers who work in the summer season.
