Science India Forum (SIF), under the patronage of the Indian embassy in Qatar, recently conducted training for guide teachers who are mentoring science projects for the Qatar Children Science Congress (QCSC).
During the opening session, SIF Qatar president elaborated on the importance of the Children Science Congress.
QCSC is an ideal and innovative programme for children to inspire, empower and expand their minds to the scientific research, a press statement notes. SIF Qatar has been conducting this programme since 2015, based on various themes and sub-themes. This year, the theme is “Science for Sustainable Living” and it is open to school students of all nationalities.
Eminent academician Dr Hemant Pande, a master trainer and mentor for various competitive exams such as NCSC, Inspire, Iris, Isef, Olympiads, NTSE etc, shared his experience and guided the participating teachers on how a simple idea gets converted into a science project and finally becomes a Product.
He emphasised the greater role of teachers to encourage students to develop an idea and help them turn it into a big project and eventually a product.
Dr Pande shared some interesting projects taken up by his students that were recognised both at the national and international levels. He stressed that guide teachers should help students get an idea by themselves, after which they should help the students develop that idea further into a science project. He also advised on how to monitor the project effectively with internal assessment and to make it a winning endeavour.
The special guest on the occasion M P Philip, principal of Bhavan’s Public School, who delivered a talk on 'Smart' goals.
