Planet Tec Electronics, a leading electronics and appliance distributor in Qatar, and the sole and exclusive distributor of Hitachi range of appliances and Midea room air conditioners, has launched the renowned Mabe brand from Mexico.
Mabe is one of the world's largest manufacturers of domestic appliances.
Planet Tec, with over 16 years presence in Qatar, has launched Mabe's premium appliances such as large capacity refrigerators, side-by-side refrigerators, laundering products as well as a range of full-safety cooking ranges made in Mexico or Ecuador.
"The Mabe brand from Mexico, which has made a big impact in international markets with the launch of its exclusive and wide range of appliances, is bound to generate a strong following in Qatar soon,” Planet Tec general manager Mohamed Anis said.
The Mabe brand of premium appliances will be available at Planet Tec’s hi-tech showroom on Salwa road and at select premium hypermarkets. The Mabe brand was founded in Mexico in 1946 by Egon Mabardi and Francisco Berrondo, with its name originating from a combination of first two letters of their surnames.
The Mabardi and Berrondo families remain the majority stake owners of the brand which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.
Mabe today has more than 24,000 employees and operations in over 70 countries. Mabe introduced the first cooking range in 1953, and in 1960 produced the world’s first range of refrigerators that featured plastic interior which later became the norm in the industry. The company has strong manufacturing capabilities with nine production units worldwide.
In 1997 Mabe made a significant move with its strategic alliance with General Electric appliances (GE) to work together on the development of new product technology and production of major household appliances.
Mabe is currently one of the largest manufacturers of large household appliances in North and South America covering refrigerators, stoves and washing machines.
By the turn of century, in 2000, Mabe was manufacturing the entire range of no-frost refrigerators including side by side, top mounts and bottom freezers in Mexico which in turn was distributed across the US, Middle East and European markets.
Planet Tec's showroom on Salwa Road is a one-stop destination for a full range of premium appliances ranging from Hitachi from Japan, Midea from China, Xperience Freezers from Italy and OTO premium massage chairs from Singapore.
Planet Tec will shortly also distribute and market their own group-brand, Oryx, with a range of electronics and appliances and launch the Admiral brand from the US. Planet Tec is also on the verge of launching e-commerce options.
