* New daily Covid-19 cases drop to 130, lowest since July 25
* 4,515,730 vaccine doses administered so far * Total recoveries in Qatar increase to 230,668
Qatar's vaccination drive reached yet another milestone as the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Sunday said 95% of the eligible population (12 years and above) have now received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Regarding the inoculation drive, the MoPH yesterday said a total of 4,515,730 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Qatar since the start of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme, with 11,173 doses given in the past 24 hours.
A break-up of the data showed that 95% of the eligible population (12 years and above) have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 88.1% have got two doses.
Also, 82.5% of the total population have got at least one dose of the vaccine, with 76.4% receiving two doses, according to the ministry.
Meanwhile, the MoPH yesterday said 219 people have recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in Qatar to 230,668, Qatar News Agency reported.
"It is important to be cautious as the second wave (of Covid-19) is not yet over and there are still two highly contagious and highly virulent strains of the virus that are actively circulating in the community," the MoPH said in a statement.
The third phase of the gradual lifting of precautionary restrictions began on July 9 and is part of a four-stage plan to be implemented over the coming months. The date of implementation and the duration of each phase will depend on the pandemic indicators, which rely to a great extent on the degree of compliance among community members with the current measures, restrictions and guidance by the government.
It is important during the current period that all members of society, including those who have received the vaccination, continue to wear masks as recommended and continue to adhere to social distancing, the ministry stressed.
"With Covid-19 still a threat to our health here in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures: adherence to physical distancing, avoiding close contact with others, crowded places and confined closed spaces where people congregate, wearing a face mask and washing hands regularly," the statement noted. "People should take the Covid-19 vaccine at the earliest opportunity when their turn comes.
"If you are eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine but have not yet booked your appointment, act now. Get vaccinated to protect yourself and your family, and support the return to normal life as soon as possible."
Anyone suffering from Covid-19 symptoms should contact the 16000 helpline immediately. This is important as the earlier the disease is detected, the easier it will be to receive the right treatment and recover from it.

The number of daily Covid-19 cases also continued to fall as the MoPH yesterday reported 130 new confirmed cases, including 82 among the community and 48 among travellers. In comparison, 157 cases were recorded on Saturday and 193 on Friday.
Yesterday's figure marked the lowest daily tally of new Covid-19 cases since July 25, when a total of 126 cases were reported.
