Lolwa al-Marri became the first Qatari woman to finish the Ironman race on Sunday.

She was participating in the Ironman triathlon in Hamburg, which includes swimming, cycling and marathon competitions.

The Qatar Women’s Sports Committee congratulated the champion al-Marri on her success in completing the race, which consisted swimming, cycling and running, with a time of 13 hours 27 minutes and 16 seconds, wishing her success in her career and future participations.

 Meanwhile, Abdullah Shaheen al-Kaabi also set a new Qatari record in the race, after covering the race distance of 225,800 km in a time of (10:28:25 hours).

 

The Ironman Triathlon is one of the long-distance triathlon series organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), consisting of 2.4 miles (3.86 km) swimming, 112 miles (180.25 km) cycling and a 26.22 mile (42.20 km) marathon, raced In this order. It is widely considered one of the toughest one-day sporting events in the world.
