Nepalese Women Society Qatar (NWSQ) recently held its fourth general convention in Doha.
The programme was chaired by president Amina Khan. The Non Resident Nepali Association National Co-ordination Council Qatar (NRNA NCC) president Mohamed Muktaza Musalman was the chief guest. Representatives from various Nepalese organisations were present.
The convention unanimously elected a new working committee led by Sarita Bhandari Poudel as president. The other office bearers are Maya K C, Sanober Jhan and Apsana Khan (first, second and third chairperson, respectively, of NWSQ), Kamana K C (general secretary), Sandhya Aryal (secretary), Sarita Chilwal Pokhariya (treasurer) and Menuka Khatiwada (vice treasurer).
Rama Chapagain, Ambika Gautam Sharma, Srijana Shrestha, Jamuna Shrestha, Mina Thapa Cheetri, Brinda Thapa Suchitra Sharma, Gita Pun Magar, Malati Neupane, Janu Kumari Thapa Magar, Anjila Devkota, Sandhya Khanal, Devi Kumari Thapa Magar, Susma Khatiwada Katawal and Chandra Sharma are new members of NWSQ.
The chief guest praised the contributions of NWSQ. He also elaborated on the co-ordination and co-operation between NWSQ and NRNA.
Nepali Business Association Qatar general secretary Ramesh Bhatta offered his forum's support.
Amina Khan said the NWSQ, established in 2012, regularly organised various cultural and social service programmes in Qatar. The forum has provided books and uniforms to many orphan and street children in Nepal. It supported the Nepalese Ladies Handball Team when they visited Qatar to play an international tournament and many more.
NWSQ's outgoing vice president Januka Basnet thanked Maya Kumari Sharma, former Nepalese ambassador to Qatar for her valuable inputs.
Newly-elected president Sarita Bhandari Poudel thanked all NWSQ members and said she aspires to unite more Nepalese women working in Qatar under the forum. The programme was hosted by outgoing general secretary Ambika Khatri.
