The Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation celebrated the achievements of Almoez Ali, the Qatari national team player, who is the first player to score in three tournaments across three different continents in the history of Arab and Gulf football.
The federation in a report on its official website said, “On this day, Almoez Ali was born, the beginning was from Mesaimeer Sports Club, then Aspire Academy, then Lekhwiya (Al Duhail), in addition to the European clubs that he played for, such as Austrian LASK, then Cultural Deportiva Leonesa, with whom he scored his first goal. On April 3, 2016, he became the first Qatari player to score in one of the Spanish leagues, before returning to Lekhwiya for the 2016-2017 season, to be awarded the Best Under-23 Player.”
The federation added that the player joined the Qatar U19 team, which won the Asian Youth Championship, and in 2015, joined the U-20 team that participated in the World Cup. On August 8, 2016, Almoez participated in his first official match with the Qatari team, where he entered as a substitute, and the team won with two goals against Iraq. He then was the top-scorer in the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship with 6 goals.
In the 2019 Asian Cup, Almoez scored a record 9 goals in one edition of the tournament, including seven in the group stage, also a record. He also broke the record held by Mansour Muftah, who had 5 goals in the Asian Cup.
Almoez scored in the semi-final against the UAE and then scored the famous goal against Japan in the final to set his record, also winning the title of best player in the tournament.
His also scored in the 2019 Copa America against Paraguay, before being crowned top scorer for the 2021 Gold Cup with four goals, thus becoming the first player in history to score in three continental tournaments.
