The competent authorities at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) have referred seven people to the Public Prosecution for spreading false news and inciting racial and tribal strife on the social media platform.
In a tweet, the MoI said that the authorities concerned found the content published in the accounts of those referred to the prosecution.
The ministry said that it will not refrain from taking strong legal action against anyone who resorts to a racist discourse aimed at threatening the security, stability and social peace of society.
It called on users of social media platforms not to offend any section of the society, whether on tribal or racial grounds, stressing that the cohesion and stability of the Qatari society is the responsibility of everyone.
