K E Ashraf, an Indian expatriate from Kerala's Malappuram Keezhuparamba area, was honoured with a bravery award by the Qatar KMCC Malappuram District Committee. The Ernad constituency office-bearer of the Qatar Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC), had rescued two children in distress at the Al Thakhira Beach in Al Khor recently.
The award was presented to Ashraf by Lt Abdul Aziz al-Muhannadi, a senior officer of Education and Awareness Division in the Community Policing Department of the Ministry of Interior, Qatar. KMCC Malappuram District president K Mohamed Issa presided over the function.
Qatar KMCC state president S A M Basheer inaugurated the event. Community Policing officer Dr K M Bahauddin, Indian Cultural Centre president P N Baburajan, general secretary Krishnakumar, Indian Sports Centre vice president Sheji Valiyakath, Indian Business and Professionals Council executive committee resident Jafar Sadiq and Qatar KMCC Malappuram District treasurer Ali Morayur spoke on the occasion.
Acting general secretary Mohamed Layis Kuniyil welcomed the gathering and secretary Younus Kadampot proposed vote of thanks.
Ashraf, currently an employee of the Ministry of Interior, was also honoured by the Qatar Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC) Ernad constituency committee. Ernad constituency committee president Ajmal Areekode presented the bravery award. Pallipparamban Veeran Haji Kuniyil was the chief guest. KMCC office bearers Niyas Moorkanad, Naseer V P, Layis Kuniyil, Safeer Edavanna, Rafeeq Aboobacker and Sameer B K spoke on the occasion.
