The president and managing committee members of the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) bid farewell to its co-ordinating officer and Indian embassy first secretary (labour and community welfare) S R H Fahmi.
A plaque of appreciation was presented by ICBF president Ziad Usman and Indian Cultural Centre president P N Baburajan.
Usman in his welcome address, recollected the contributions of Fahmi to the Indian community in Qatar and described him as a guiding light for ICBF during his tenure in Qatar, especially for the blue collar section of the community.
Baburajan recalled the Fahmi's exemplary contributions during the pandemic peak and the Vande Bharat and chartered repatriation flights.
Among the guests were Indian embassy second secretary Dr Sona Soman and labour attache Dheeraj Kumar.
The programme was hosted by ICBF vice president Vinod Nair. General secretary Sabith Saheer and members Avinash Gaikwad, and Santosh Kumar Pillai were among those who spoke. The function was attended by all the current and previous management committees' members.
