Producing one of her best performances to date, Shedaresthedevil proved much too strong for her rivals when winning the Clement L Hirsch Stakes, a Grade 1 for three-year-old and older fillies and mares over 1,700m, for her owners Flurry Racing Stables, Qatar Racing and Autry Lowry Jr.
Now a triple Grade 1 winner, Shedaresthedevil is trained by Brad H. Cox and was ridden on Sunday at Del Mar in the United States, by her regular jockey Florent Geroux. Following this success, the four-year-old bay filly now qualifies automatically for a place at the Breeders’ Cup Distaff in November.
Drawn widest of five, Shedaresthedevil broke smartly and was slotted in third position through the early part of the race. With Venitian Harbour making her running, Shedaresthedevil challenged around the home turn and easily drew clear of her rivals, galloping clear to a three and a half-length success and was even eased down closer home.
Venitian Harbour finished second for trainer Richard Baltas and jockey Mario Gutierrez. The Simon Callaghan-trained and Flavien Prat-ridden Paige Anne stuck on well to claim third as she was further three-and-a-half lengths back.
Bred by WinStar Farm, Shedaresthedevil now boasts an impressive record of three Grade 1, a Grade 2 and two Grade 2 victories. The superstar filly started her career in June 2019 and has bagged eight wins in 13 starts so far, which is a sparling strike rate by all means. The multiple Grade winner is by Daredevil who now stands at Lanes End Farm, having previously stood in Turkey. Her dam Starship Warpspeed also produced Mojovation, who finished third in the 2017 Grade Three Futurity Stakes at Belmont Park.
