As part of the usual preparations for the upcoming back to school season for the school year 2021-2022, a good number of shopping centres and bookstores have started to launch offers and promotions on stationery supplies, electronic gadgets and other relevant materials.
In addition to the traditional requirements including school bags, the increasing dependence on online classes and e-educational resources has made smart devices an integral part of the system, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported. However, both modern and traditional tools and means are in high demand by parents.
A number of retailers affirmed their readiness to supply all the needs of the market and having the necessary stock to respond to the varied needs of different customers. They pointed out that most of the items have been imported from China, Turkey, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Indian, Pakistan and other countries. The diversified sources of supply would certainly give customers competitive prices and more options to choose from.
Yousef Radwan, a sales manager at a major bookstore, said that his shop has seen an excellent turnout of customers over the recent period, mostly parents buying the necessary school stationery for their children. He said that more and more stationery products are made in Qatar and these are highly preferred by customers due to their excellent quality and good prices.
"My company has made a contract a local manufacturer to supply us with different types of notebooks in addition to school bags suitable for the different age categories," Radwan added.
Ali Qassim, a sales manager at another retailer, said that his company is very keen to provide the customers with various options at reasonable prices.The various sources of imports have helped them maintain stable prices which are satisfactory for most customers.
Mohamed Hassan, sales manager at a bookstore, said the demand for stationeries and other related items had started to increase gradually during the past week, and he expected further gradual increase of sales over the coming few weeks, especially since there is adequate and diversified stock of goods that could appeal to all.
