The Ninth National General Convention of the Non-Resident Nepali Association National Co-ordination Council Qatar (NRNA-NCC Qatar), was held at the Nepal embassy in Qatar.
The entire working committee of NRNA-NCC Qatar including its chairman Mohamed Muktda Musalman, has been elected unopposed. This is for the first time that the entire working committee has been elected unopposed. The chairman has also set a new record of two terms.
The NRNA committee for the 2021-2023 term was sworn in at the ninth general convention of Qatar held on July 9 at the Nepal embassy. The swearing-in was conducted by election committee co-ordinator Ramesh Bhatta. The chief guest was Nepal ambassador Dr Narad Nath Bharadwaj Wagle and special guests were Nepal embassy second secretary Prabin Bhattarai, NRNA International Co-ordination Council (ICC) president Kumar Pant, vice president Dr Badri K C, secretary general Dr Hemraj Sharma, secretary R K Sharma, spokesperson D B Kshetri, advisor T B Kark, Middle East co-ordinator Prabeen Gurung, joint co-ordinators Manoj Kumar Shrestha Gorkhali and Rajendra Aryal, and Middle East Youth co-ordinator Raj Regmi.
ICC founding members, honorary council members, ICC members, NCC Qatar past presidents and office-bearers, representatives of all participating organisations established in Qatar, social workers and businessmen were also present on the occasion.
Ambassador Wagle spoke about his initiative to build a cultural centre for the Nepali community in Qatar. He stated that NRNA Qatar and the Nepal embassy are complementary to each other.
Along with NRNA-NCC Qatar president Muktda, general secretary Padam Giri and treasurer Binod Kumar Basaula will also remain in their same post for the tenure.
As representatives of NCC Qatar, seven ICC members were also elected unopposed at the convention. They are Naresh Shrestha, Tanka Kumar Khadka, Sarita Bhandari Paudel, Ashad Husaain Mu, Purna Bahadur Pokharia, Ramu Regmi, and Tej Katuwal.
