Qatar Charity (QC), with the support from benefactors in Qatar, distributed 5,000 Udhiyah, valued at more than QR3.8mn, to 46,500 beneficiaries in the country.
Udhiyah, distributed in the third and fourth days of Eid al-Adha, came as part of QC’s Eid drive, dubbed as ‘Delight them with your sacrifice, Let the hope continue’.
Before Eid al-Adha, QC had given away coupons to the beneficiaries, who were families with limited income and those sponsored by QC such as orphans, students and people with special needs. Arab and Asian expatriate families, those affected by Covid-19, and workers also received Udhiyah.
Meats were distributed to the beneficiaries, in co-operation with the Widam Food Company, through its Wakrah central slaughterhouse, Al-Seliya slaughterhouse, Al-Shahaniya slaughterhouse, and Umm Salal slaughterhouse, receiving Udhiyah while they were in their vehicles.
The orphans and low-income families received Udhiyah at their homes while the workers at their residential complexes and farms.
QC receive support from the Qatari social figures, various QC Centres for Community Development, and many expatriate communities to reach eligible beneficiaries. A good number of volunteers took part in distributing coupons to beneficiaries, and guiding them.
Fatima Jumah al-Mohannadi, director of Programmes and Community Development department at QC, thanked donors for their generous contributions to the Udhiyah drive that benefited low-income families, workers, and those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
She also extended the warmest congratulations and best greetings to the Qatari leadership, government, citizens, and residents on Eid al-Adha, praying to Allah the Almighty to return this occasion to everyone with good, blessing and happiness.
She urged people to continue supporting QC’s projects and programmes continuing throughout the year, which aims to provide humanitarian services inside and outside Qatar.
Many representatives of expatriate communities in Qatar were happy with QC’s Udhiyah drive, which shared the joy of Eid with expatriate low-income families and workers. They thanked QC for the smooth process of distributing Udhiyah meats via coupons before Eid al-Adha.
