Division A of Toastmasters International, District 116 introduced its newly elected executive committee at the first Division Council Meeting held online on July 19.
Division A director Jayakumar Menon opened the meeting. A member of the Toastmasters fraternity for 12 years, he has occupied varied leadership positions and is a recipient of several educational and leadership awards.
Menon shared his vision stating that the focus will be on building new clubs and promoting Arabic Clubs. He will be assisted by the executive committee comprising Niloufer Samal (programme quality director), Mustafa Ali Syed (club growth director), Zaher Saleh (Area 1 director), Shailaja Seri (Area 2 director), Namrata Tawde (Area 3 director), George Phillip Leonardo (Area 4 director), Elmay Sebua (administration manager), Trixie Lee Santos (public relations manager), Akash Bhutada (Falcon Awards chair), Anil Nair (Speakers Bureau chair), Padma Bhutada (TLI chair) Mohamed Shabrawi (Arabic Clubs advisor) and Sithmini Athluge (Gavels co-ordinator).
Past district director Rajeswar Sundaresan spoke on 'Rising to the Challenge'. Current district director Manzoor Moideen and toastmaster Ravishankar also addressed the gathering. Area directors and other division officers presented their plans for the toastmasters’ year 2021-22. Niloufer Samal said the Division will strive to ensure high quality delivery of the Toastmasters Educational Programme and provide excellent learning opportunities to its members. The meeting ended with a Q & A session.
Division A is the oldest division in Qatar and comprises 12 toastmasters’ clubs and two Gavel clubs. Training Modules to educate and refresh members are in the pipeline with one on the Pathways Educational Programme slated for August 6, 2021. Toastmasters International is a worldwide nonprofit organisation focusing on developing communication and leadership skills of its members.
