* Two career advisers complete pivotal programme, enabling them to deliver major training course
Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC) is celebrating a milestone in its efforts to support the career aspirations of students in the Gulf State, with two of its career advisers – Effrosyni Parampota and Paige M McDonough, both experts in career guidance and professional development at QCDC – having received the Facilitating Career Development (FCD) Instructor Certificate.
Parampota and McDonough were each awarded the credential after successfully completing the FCD Instructor Training programme. Both have now been handed the opportunity to deliver the renowned FCD Training Programme that leads to the Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) credential through the highly esteemed National Career Development Association (NCDA) and the Global Career Development Facilitator (G-CDF) credential from the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE).
The FCD Training Programme provides individuals with relevant skills and knowledge to assist others in planning careers and obtaining meaningful work. Participants will receive in-depth training in key areas of career development in the form of up to 22+ instructional hours.
"This is a major milestone for QCDC, a Qatar Foundation (QF) member, as it is the first time that the centre will be able to deliver training that leads to an internationally recognised accreditation. QCDC is preparing for the FCD Training Programme to be offered to the public this October, and the training has been customised to the Qatari and GCC contexts," QCDC said in a press statement.
In another first for QCDC, QF, and the nation, both instructors are the first to be accredited in Qatar and the GCC region. In itself, this is a major moment in terms of human capital development, which can be offered locally without the need to use consultants from outside the Gulf State, the statement notes.
“I am delighted to have passed the FCD Instructor Training Programme,” Parampota said. “It is an important milestone, not just for myself, of course, but for what will hopefully follow in being able to deliver the FCD training here in Qatar with QCDC. That is a great privilege and honour for me.”
McDonough added, “This is an exciting opportunity. The potential future impact of delivering the FCD Training Programme is compounded, as both the participants and the clients they serve will benefit from the FCD Training Programme whether directly or indirectly. This is an exciting step for career development in Qatar and I look forward to delivering the FCD Training Programme on behalf of QCDC."
