Qatar Charity (QC) is to launch several cultural and awareness-raising events and activities for families and their children.
This coincides with the advent of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th and final month in the Islamic calendar, and comes as part of QC’s Eid al-Adha drive, ‘Delight them with your sacrifice, let the hope continue’.
The events will be held remotely by the Qatar Charity Centres for Community Development through Microsoft Teams and will include the ‘Haj Rituals Box’, lectures and 'grandma stories', in addition to other activities, QC has said in a statement.
“These events, which coincide with the blessed days of Dhul Hijjah, aim to promote values, draw attention to the importance of the rituals of Haj, and connect families and children in an interactive way, which enhances society’s creative capabilities that can contribute to voluntary work and participate in supporting QC projects,” said Fatima Jumah al-Mohannad, director of the Programmes and Community Development department at QC.
The ‘Haj Rituals Box’ is a cultural project for families. It is about providing a box designed in a way attracting beneficiaries from family members so that children, along with their parents, can learn to perform the Haj rituals virtually by installing Haj models.
The contribution to this project can be made by marketing 200 boxes for the education of children from low-income families. Besides, four lectures will be given on the importance of these 10 days and sacrifice, and the joy of Eid to promote cultural and religious values, the statement notes.
Also, an activity will be held to allow artists to participate with their drawings on Haj, which will be donated to QC in support of its charitable projects.
The Eid al-Adha events also include three stories told by a grandmother on Al Rayyan TV during the days of Eid al-Adha. The stories end with a puzzle that people can compete to solve by posting on the Instagram account of Al Rayyan TV or QC. The winners will receive prizes.
